10 ways to succeed @ Life and Music

Posted by admin on Sunday Jul 12, 2009 Under epkhosting, Uncategorized
  1. Choose something you love doing and make it your career choice
If you want to succeed beyond survival, chose a career path relative to your greatest love in life. If your biggest love is writing, find a way to incorporate writing into making money. Call yourself a writer and write as much as you can.
  2. Utilize your friends, and their friends
You will never have a larger team of support workers than the people who you have spent your life growing with. Your friends and people whom you grew up with are the best option for helping you go from nothing to something. By utilizing the skills and assets of people you know you are more likely to succeed and be happy with the results. Often if you only share a page in a yearbook people will still feel like you are a part of their past and be willing to help you accomplish your goal.
  3. Create a need
If your product or service is sellable, create a need for your product or service in the largest way possible. People consume what they need and what they want. The best way to create a need is to advertise. This includes social networking sites and guerrilla marketing.
  4. Mimic success, while staying innovative
Find a model for success in your chosen field and adapt it to your idea’s. A successful business or person will exert many benneficial strategies in their public actions. Tune into these and use them for yourself.
  5. Visualize yourself at the top
Nothing is more motivating than closing your eyes and pretending you are the best at what you do in every way. Imagine yourself in the fastest car, or on top the highest mountain. It is proven in history that even people at the lowest points of life can reclaim their existence and conquer life fully.
  6. Analyze yourself
Review your actions. If something didn’t work out as planned, re-visit its structure and redevelop a new working strategy. Reward yourself for things that worked out better than you had hoped. Make sure you never settle on the way things “are”.
  7. Grow
Even as a millionaire you can be a billionaire. Along your journey your situation will change. You will succeed, fail, win, and lose but stay assertive and be aware of how you can flex with your life for a positive outcome.
  8. Define yourself by your career choice
Make your career choice your identity. whatever it is you choose to be should be synonymous for your name. Be forward about what you do as if your name was “bill smith camera operator”. Allow people to discuss what you do around and away from you.
  9. Stay positive, success takes time
Try and stay focused on minor goals while maintaining an overall picture of your circumstances. It may take years to become a pro football player but along the way you can watch little parts of it come true. Remember, the journey is the experience and without a positive ride to the top you will not feel fulfilled or rewarded.
  10. Remember your motivations
Think back to why you decided to take the path you did. What was it that fueled your love for your chosen path? If you constantly recall why you started what you started, you are more likely to finish it.

I started playing music 8 years ago because I felt the need to repay all the musicians that made my childhood last into adulthood. Without music and touring bands I don’t know if I would be alive today. So I dedicated my life to filling the spots of musicians that come and go.

I owe it to the next generation of kids to create and expose them to music, and hopefully effect them in a positive way.
I will never be anything else besides a kid who plays drums in bands. And I cant promise that I will be the best there ever was. But when I close my eyes, I see myself making that difference in peoples lives and when I open them its real.

HIT THE LIGHTS – EP REVIEW

Posted by admin on Tuesday Jul 7, 2009 Under Uncategorized

First things first. How cool is this album cover?

Coast to Coast is the latest release from Ohio based, Triple Crown, pop punk band, Hit The Lights.

The EP features 2 new songs, 2 covers of songs by bands they were “influenced by”, and 2 acoustic versions of previously released HTL tunes.

I was introduced to HTL a few years ago by a friend named Duncan and haven’t been able to stop listening to them since. I know a lot of people are aware of this band but for those of you who don’t, it’s pop punk done to the max, please check this band out. The lyrics are incredibly real and provoking and the drums are pretty dope as well.

HTL have played a bunch of shows with this week’s punk rock heroes and my good friends, THE SWELLERS! (Signed this week to Fueled By Ramen Records)

The cover of Further Seems Forever’s “Snowbirds and Townies” actually kills me its so good!

The release of  the Coast to Coast EP  (download only) is the perfect way for these guys to bridge between their last LP “Skip School, Start Fights and whatever the band has planned next. (likely another huge LP)

You may recognize some of this bands tunes from hit TV’s “The Hills” if you have a girlfriend or are down with chicks.

Hit The Lights are currently doing the entire Warped tour all summer long, so grab your Warped ticket and check them out. Last year they didn’t make it into Canada to play the Barrie show. (or two years ago)?

The last time Hit The Lights played T.O was last year with Forever the conservative kids and Cobra Starship @ The Opera House.

Public Enemies Review

Posted by admin on Monday Jul 6, 2009 Under Uncategorized

Ok, so I just walked out of the movie theater with my old man and am sitting down to write this review. Frankly four hours ago I was way more excited to do so then now. From the moment I saw the Public Enemies trailer I was excited to see this movie and watch this epic story and character from American history come back to life. But leaving the movie I feel ripped off as I am no more aware of John Dillinger and his crimes now than I was Previous to this two and a half hour no story.

I will say that the cinematography was quite good in most parts of the movie and the props, scenery, and setting were all made very well.

However, I wanted this movie to be about the crimes! About the “jobs” and living through them with John Dillinger, and yet only 5 minutes of this movie was actually about money or banks. Dillinger’s calm demeanor made him unafraid of death which inevitably was the only thing he was actually trying to temporarily elude in the film. There were no “high stakes” at all.

I often find that with new movies set 1960′s or previous the characters often blend together with their looks making it difficult to differentiate between characters and fully understand the situations. This movie was no exception.

At the end of the day Johnny Depp did his job and played Dillinger well. I just don’t think that what he was asked to play was very interesting. The true character of Dillinger was most likely grew into a more Robin Hoodish type outlaw, and in my opinion this movie failed to capture his charisma.

Go see this movie but dont expect it to be great.
